Prof. El-Shemy, Cairo University, introduced the science and technology in Egypt.
As part of the "Inter-University Exchange Project" adopted by MEXT in 2020, the 3rd "Africa Fair" was held on July 5, 2023.
This time, we welcomed Prof. Hany A. El-Shemy from Cairo University, Egypt, as a special guest. The science and technology of Cairo University and Egypt was introduced in the first half, and his latest research conducted with his team members was presented in the second half.
While ancient Egypt still fascinates Japanese people with its pyramids and Tutankhamun, this lecture was a great opportunity to learn about the modern science and technology that has inherited its prosperity, as well as about Cairo University, the one of top institutions of higher education in Egypt.

Prof. El-Shemy, received a Ph.D. from Hiroshima University, is very familiar with Japan. Before his lecture, he met with Prof. Hayasaka, Vice-Dean of the Joint Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, and Prof. Miyata, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, to discuss future inter-university exchanges and introduction of both universities' faculties and research.
