Discussion with Prof. Takahashi, Kyoto University
Professor Motoki Takahashi, Graduate School of Asian and African Area Studies, Kyoto University, and Ms. Cheong Hyomin, the research fellow, they visited our campus on Monday, 24 July. Kyoto University has been selected as a joint project with Tokyo University of Foreign Studies for Type B: Exchange Promotion and Platform Building Program under the MEXT's "Inter-University Exchange with African Countries" project in 2020, and currently strives to strengthen networks among the universities selected for the project.
Prof. Takahashi actively involves in the project as a Program Leader as well as a chairperson of the Committee for Japanese Universities’ International Exchange Program with Africa composed of universities that have adopted the project. This time, we had a great opportunity to exchange views on the progress and prospects of our project, which was adopted as a Type A (start-up type).
In the discussion with Prof. Yuri Ishii, Vice President, as well as Program Leader of our project, and Prof. Daisuke Hayasaka, the Joint Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and the program operator, Prof. Takahashi gave us some advice on the development of our project and suggestions for inter-university collaboration in the future, such as lectures of the African economic development, his field of study, for prospective dispatch students to Nairobi. He also had a session with our students who had completed the training in Nairobi, and told them that their experience in Africa could be valuable, considering the future advancement of the African area.
Through this discussion with Kyoto University, we hope to strengthen cooperation with them so that our university's projects will be highly successful.
