Students from the University of Nairobi's Faculty of Medicine Visit YU

2025.3.27

From 3 to 8 March 2025, two students and one faculty member from the University of Nairobi's Faculty of Health Sciences visited Yamaguchi University for student exchange.

On the first day, the delegation met with President Tanizawa at Yoshida Campus, where they discussed overseas training experiences. They then visited Kogushi Campus to meet Dean Tsuyoshi Tanabe and reunite with Yamaguchi University students who had trained in Nairobi the previous September. The second day featured a campus tour, including the university hospital’s helipad, followed by a visit to the Research Institute for Cell Design Medical Science (RICeD), where participants praised the cutting-edge research facilities.

During the third and fourth days, the visitors joined clinical training in gastroenterology and surgical oncology and observed hospital facilities. A special lecture by a Spanish professor expanded their medical knowledge. In the evening, a welcome reception hosted by the students of International Medical Research Club brought together around 40 students, faculty, and international students for meaningful exchange. On the final day, our medical students organized an excursion to explore the region and experience a traditional Japanese tea ceremony.

This visit strengthened academic ties between the two universities, paving the way for even greater future collaboration.
