Only one week was remained in "2018."
We had lab cleaning before the Year-end.
And, we had makeup of laboratory after an interval of 5 years.
At night, we had a year-end party at "YORO-NO-TAKI."

Dec. 11 Chemistry Department Student Mixer in 2018
We attended Student Mixer to facilitate exchange between 3rd year undergrads
and grad students at the department of applied chemistry.
During the Student Mixer, long-rope jump tournament over chemistry department
labs was held.
Surprisingly, our lab got
Champion belt!
This is the second belt we got through this event held every years.

We have attended the SPSJ Chugoku-Shikoku Branch Workshop for Young Researchers
in Hiroshima.
It was a great opportunity to learn how to explain your work, or how to communicating with other researchers especially for the first time conference attendees.
We also organized mini-quiz competition at the banquet, which went pretty well!
It was a great way for students to meet other students and to have personal interactions with faculty.

We had softball games over chemistry department labs.
Although it was a bit of disappointment for not qualifying to the next
round, we tried hard and had the most exciting game of the day!

May 13-17 233th ECS Meeting
Prof. Yu Katayama gave invited lecture, which summarizes the reaction mechanisms
of the electrochemical CO2 reduction reaction for future fuel production.
The results were obtained through various experimental and theoretical
approaches, including in situ infrared spectroscopy, ambient-pressure XPS,
and DFT calculations.
We also shared results on the importance of electrolyte design in Li-air batteries development.
