Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nairobi Visits Japan
On 14–15 January 2025, Prof Margaret Hutchinson, the first female Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nairobi (UoN), and Dr Dominic Ochuang’i, who played a key role in promoting the inter-university agreement, visited our university and met with President Tanizawa.
Their visit was part of the MEXT Inter-University Exchange Programme (Africa), adopted in 2020. In collaboration with Kyoto University, we invited the Vice-Chancellor and held events such as an introduction to the UoN, a discussion with students. They expressed hopes for further exchange and joint research in the future.
Following this, the Japan-Africa Exchange Meeting and other events were held at Kyoto University, after which the two guests concluded their approximately one-week stay in Japan. This visit further strengthened the relationship between the universities, and our university will continue to work towards building an international academic network connecting Japan and Africa.
