YAMAGUCHI UNIVERSITY

Visit by Students from The Education University of Hong Kong and Exchange Activities

From 20 to 21 May 2025, twenty students from The Education University of Hong Kong visited our university, engaging in cultural and academic exchange with our students and staff through workshops, a mock lecture, and local cultural activities.

The first day featured student-led introductions of both universities and Yamaguchi culture, followed by a mock lecture on the Meiji Restoration. On the second day, the group visited Akiyoshidō Cave in Mine City and participated in an intercultural workshop. A performance by the student dance group Yosakoi Yassan! gave a vibrant performance, with the visiting students later taking part in learning the dance.

Mr Charles Chen, Lecturer in Department of Linguistics and Modern Language Studies, remarked on the significance of the visit, coinciding with the 10th anniversary of the Meiji Industrial Revolution Sites’ World Heritage designation. He expressed delight at the students’ interactions and affirmed the value of such exchanges in fostering mutual cultural understanding. He also voiced his hope for the programme’s continuation in future years.

With the recent renewal of our agreement with The Education University of Hong Kong, further collaboration and exchange between the two institutions are anticipated.
