We welcomed the Ambassador of Timor-Leste to Japan.
On Thursday, November 27, 2025, Her Excellency Maria Terezinha da Silva VIEGAS, the Ambassador, and Mr. Joao Mendonca, the Labour Attaché, from the Embassy of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste in Japan, visited our university. Their schedule included a courtesy visit to Vice President Yuri Ishii (in charge of International Cooperation) and an inspection tour of the Faculty of Engineering.
This courtesy visit on the Vice President was realized because Her Excellency the Ambassador expressed interest in the high enrollment of students from Timor-Leste at our university.
The courtesy visit on the Vice President took place at the Yoshida Campus, where Vice President Ishii began by providing an overview of the university. This was followed by a friendly discussion concerning the relationship between our university and Timor-Leste, which included Professor Koichi Yamamoto, Head of the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department, and Associate Professor MD. Azizul Moqsud of the same department, from the Faculty of Engineering. Her Excellency the Ambassador listened intently throughout the conversation. She expressed her gratitude to the university, making the visit a valuable opportunity to further strengthen the relationship between our university and Timor-Leste. Furthermore, on the following day, Friday, November 28, a commemorative ceremony was held at the Faculty of Engineering on the Tokiwa Campus, and a research seminar was also observed.
This visit is expected to pave the way for a further activation of exchanges with Timor-Leste in the future.
