*Notice* The research project by Lecturer Isao Tamura (Division of Advanced Genome Editing Therapy) has been selected for the “Emergent Research Support Program” by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST).

On July 25, 2025, the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) announced the new grantees for its FY2024 “Emergent Research Support Program.” This program provides long-term support for up to 10 years, enabling researchers to focus on challenging research with free thinking, unconstrained by specific topics or short-term goals.

This call received 2,262 applications nationwide, with 246 research projects selected. Among them is the project “Establishment of an In Vitro Implantation Model and Development of Treatments for Implantation Failure” by Associate Professor Isao Tamura, affiliated with the University Hospital and the Research Institute for Cell Design and Medical Science.

Lecturer Tamura’s research tackles the mechanism of “implantation failure,” one cause of infertility. Specifically, it aims to “visually observe” the details of implantation by constructing an “in vitro implantation model” that reproduces the implantation phenomenon outside the body, which was previously impossible to observe. This is expected to lead to the development of new drugs and treatments for implantation failure.

The university will continue to actively support “emergent research,” including the newly selected project, to foster research outcomes that contribute to society.
