High-Concentration Hydrogen Delivery During Dialysis Using an Innovative Direct Dissolution Technique: In Vivo Kinetics in a Canine Model.
A research group at Yamaguchi University Graduate School of Medicine has developed a new dialysis technology utilizing hydrogen to reduce oxidative stress, a cause of complications in dialysis patients.
While hemodialysis is essential for sustaining life, the use of artificial organs causes chronic inflammation and oxidative stress within the body, leading to fatigue and complications.
To address this challenge, the research group collaborated with a company to develop a unique technology using a “gas separation hollow fiber membrane.” This enables the generation of hydrogen-enriched dialysis water more efficiently and safely than conventional methods.
This new technology is expected to contribute to improving the quality of life (QOL) for dialysis patients.
