*Report*International Seminar Held on Mar 31
On Tuesday, March 31, 2026, an International Seminar titled “Using Protein Engineering to Make Immunotherapy Work in the Right Place” was held at the Seminar Room, 5th floor of Ishukan on the Ogushi Campus.
We were honored to welcome Dr. Jun Ishihara from Imperial College London as our guest speaker.
During the seminar, Dr. Ishihara shared his enduring commitment to “curing diseases that were previously incurable” and his research goal of “realizing patient-friendly treatments to improve Quality of Life (QOL).” Addressing the challenge that immunotherapy often fails to target the correct locations, he spoke about his steadfast philosophy of “leveraging biomolecules to achieve precise molecular delivery to the appropriate sites.”
Furthermore, Dr. Ishihara expressed a strong desire to contribute to Japan, save Japanese patients, and give back to his home country. In line with this vision, he has established his own company. Members of Flox Bio, an organization he leads, also attended this seminar. Flox Bio supports the transition of research into business by providing hands-on assistance for the social implementation of university-born “seeds,” and has a proven track record of bridging the gap between academia and pharmaceutical companies or biotech ventures.
Our institute will continue such activities as we strive toward fulfilling our mission and achieving further breakthroughs.
