*Announcement* Adopters of the RICeD x Crossover Project have been selected.
The Research Institute for Cell Designed Medical Sciences (RICeD) promotes the creation of cutting-edge medical technologies and the development of innovative treatments for intractable diseases by applying the results of its research to humans and companion animals with the mission of “creating a society in which humans and companion animals can live long and healthy lives in harmony.
In order to achieve this mission, the institute has invited applications for the “RICeD x Crossover Project,” an original and advanced joint research project by multiple researchers within the institute, in order to promote interdisciplinary research that transcends the boundaries between disciplines. We are pleased to announce that three projects have been selected as a result of rigorous screening.
The selected research projects are as follows:
“Development of a Bio-Mimetic System for Cerebral Aneurysms and Model Animals, and Its Application to Drug Discovery” (Representative: Dr. Tomoka Morita, Division of Advanced Genome Editing Therapy)
“Establishment of a Human Endometrial Model via Müllerian Duct Induction Based on Intermediate Mesoderm” (Representative: Dr. Isao Tamura, Division of Advanced Genome Editing Therapy)
“Elucidating the Mechanisms of Myopia Onset with a Focus on Allergies
—Toward Establishing a Foundation for the Treatment of Myopia, a Zoonotic Disease—” (Representative: Dr. Atsushige Ashimori, Division of Advanced Genome Editing Therapy)
In this call for proposals, the following points were considered important in determining the projects to be selected
Strong fusion between medicine and veterinary medicine: The project must have the potential for new fusion research that goes beyond mere technology sharing and transcends academic fields.
Feasibility and potential: Projects must have high feasibility and be “budding” research that will lead to future research development.
Fusion of different fields: The research must be original and truly fusion of different fields, both inside and outside of the institute.
Young researchers: The research must include perspectives from which young researchers can take the initiative and pioneer new research.
Selected projects will be promoted until the end of the fiscal year, with the aim of obtaining further external funding under the guidance and support of the University Research Administrator (URA). In addition, after the completion of the project, we expect that the research results will be presented at the Institute’s seminars and colloquiums, etc., leading to further research development.
RICeD will continue to strongly promote interdisciplinary research through the “RICeD x Crossover Project” to develop innovative treatments for intractable diseases and, by extension, contribute to “the realization of a society in which people and their companion animals can live long and healthy lives in harmony.
