Donation by Bequest

The Yamaguchi University Fund has established a donation by bequest system with a cooperating trust bank to facilitate procedures for alumni, faculty members, staff members, and general donors who wish to donate a portion of their assets to Yamaguchi University in the future as a bequest in their will. The bank can handle complicated inheritance procedures on the donor's behalf, from preparing an inventory of bequeathed assets to implementing estate division procedures.
Those interested in donating in this way should contact the Yamaguchi University Fund Office, which will then help establish contact with the cooperating bank.
We will ensure that your generous bequest will go to help develop educational research at Yamaguchi University.

❶Contact the Yamaguchi University Fund Office

The office will connect you with the cooperating trust bank.

Those interested in donating through bequest should contact the Yamaguchi University Fund Office, which will connect you with Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, Limited, the University’s cooperating bank.

❷Contact with the cooperating trust bank.

Draft a last will and testament.

The trust bank offers consultation on drafting a will, including bequest donations.This consultation is free.

❸Drafting, custody, and administration of the will.

The cooperating trust bank will help you draft a will, take custody of it, and administer it through a testamentary trust.

These services will all incur standard fees.

❹Notification of your passing.

Your heirs or others will notify the trust bank of your passing.

❺Execution of will and asset distribution

The cooperating trust bank will execute the contents of the will, including the distribution of the estate to the heirs, in accordance with wishes of the deceased.

Donation to Yamaguchi University

Yamaguchi University will ensure that all bequests will go to help develop educational research.All donations by bequest are tax(in Japan) privileged under the donation exemption. For details, please consult with our cooperating trust bank.

Inheritance Donation

In keeping with the wishes of the deceased, family members may donate a portion of their inheritance to the university. First, please feel free to contact with the Yamaguchi University Fund office.

Note: Inheritance Tax

If the donation is made within the official limit of 10 months from the day following the day on which the donor learns of the decedent's death, and donors file an inheritance tax return with certification issued by the university, no inheritance tax will be imposed on the donated assets.
